Review: Wondrous Oblivion

This is an endearing film that highlights friendship and sport as a panacea for social intolerance in 1960s London. When an African family moves in to a rigid neighborhood, the residents are in upheaval. After his new neighbors build a cricket pitch in their backyard, sport-obsessed immigrant David Wiseman forges a new, difficult friendship. Well-rounded and addressing numerous social issues, this astute observation of human nature creates a strong sense of time and place without forcing drama.
